We continue to grow!

We are excited to welcome two new team members at CenGen this month! Michaela-Anne White (pictured left) is currently finishing up a Masters’ degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics at Stellenbosch University, where she focused on disease resistance and developing new methods for greenhouse screening of pathogens. At CenGen she will busy herself with the wheat research projects and the DIPLOMICS geneTeachers and -Learners workshop initiative.

Larysha Rothmann is a graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand, where she completed a Masters’ degree in Bioinformatics and Genetics in 2022. She will become our first in-house bioinformatician, a position for which the need has developed quickly in recent years with the explosion of biological data availability. Her first priority will be to take the Spekboom genome project to the next level.

We look forward to what Michaela-Anne and Larysha will contribute to our laboratory!
