We’re happy to welcome Ms Ferran Kelly, fourth year student at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and intern at CenGen for 2026!
Ferran is taking over from Nkosinathi Rathogwa, who was a DIPLOMICS Intern with us in 2025. Nkosinathi will be pursuing a BSc Honours degree at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) this year.
Ferran’s internship is funded by DIPLOMICS. She will form part of the Technical Specialist team at CenGen whilst completing her twelve-month internship.
We also hosted Mr Raeez Peters for two weeks at the beginning of the year. Raeez is enrolled for a BSc Honours in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at Stellenbosch University (SU) this year, and spent his time at CenGen learning from Wilku Meyer, our in-house bioinformatician. They worked on our barley whole genome sequencing project – a steep learning curve in two weeks!
We wish Raeez and Nkosinathi all the best for their endeavours, and we look forward to spending the year with Ferran!
