CenGen’s staff hit the road to quite a number of diverse commitments in September. Corneli de Klerk presented a talk at the SANSOR Recapping Workshop on Wheat in Napier on 4 September. She informed the attendees about marker-assisted selection (MAS) – how it works and what value it adds to breeding programmes.
On 10 September, Renée Prins, Corneli de Klerk and Elsabet Wessels attended the annual meeting of the technical committee of the Winter Cereal Trust (WCT) to deliver progress reports on the WCT-funded projects that are running at CenGen.
Debbie Snyman, Lizaan Rademeyer and Alana Crotz along with Marizanne Horn (Sensako) attended the Villa Crop Answer Plots® at NAMPO Cape in Bredasdorp on 12-13 September. Marizanne presented the shortened MAS talk to listeners at the Sensako field trials. On the same day, Elsabet Wessels also presented this talk at the SKOG producers’ day at Langgewens, Malmesbury.
And yet there are more travels to look forward too. Lizaan Rademeyer and Kelly Breeds will attend the AB InBev Growers’ Appreciation Day at SABBI on 20 September while Lizaan, Kelly, Renée, Corneli and Marizanne will attend the International Cereal Rusts and Powdery Mildews Conference 2018 in the Kruger National Park from 23 to 26 September.
